U.S. Population Census and Statistics
- Census of Population Decennial measurement of the characteristics of the general (consumer) population. Collected at the neighborhood block level in years ending in zero. Census Bureau will also prepare an analysis run to your specifications for a negotiated fee.

- Current Population Reports Updates of various census measurements, including reports on general population characteristics (age, marital status, race, ethnicity, etc.).
- Census of Housing Collected at the same time as the Census of Population. Provides data on type and size of structure, condition, occupancy, rents, and value of real estate. Reports proportion of households with various kinds of equipment including stoves, dishwashers, telephones, air conditioners, etc.

Data for all counties and metropolitan areas in a particular state. Contains historical data from 1970 and projections to 2030 of population by age, race, employment by industry, earnings of employees by industry, personal income by source, households by income bracket and retail sales by kind of business.
- Thomas Register of American Manufacturers (Thomas Publishing Company). Annually resources providing addresses of headquarters, branch offices and subsidiaries.
- United Nations Statistical Yearbook (United Nations, New York). Provides statistics on populations, industrial output, international output, international trade and other commercial statistics.
Private Syndicated Studies
- Donnelley Marketing Information Services Donnelley’s Conquest system is an interactive database, access to which is obtained by payment of an annual fee. Users then can acquire customer demographics by zip code and census tract and information on sales potentials for 21 categories of retail outlets, maps of target areas and lifestyle profiles of 47 different consumer groups.
- National Purchase Diary Panel (National Purchase Diary Panel, Inc.) Obtains diary records from 18,000 families who keep monthly records on about 50 product categories.
- Nielsen Retail Indexes (A.C. Nielsen Company). Data collected six times a year on 1,600 supermarkets, 750 drug stores, and 450 mass merchandisers, including beginning and ending inventories and intervening purchases by brand in selected categories.
- PRIZM (Claritas). Provides 40 psychographic profiles describing every zip code area in the United States. Links profiles to product and service consumption.
- Simmons Media/Market Service (Simmons Market Research Bureau, Inc.). Surveys a national probability sample of more than 15,000 households about their purchasing and use of products in 500 categories and summarizes television viewing behavior.

- CompuServe, Inc (CompuServe, Inc., Columbus, Ohio) Division of H & R Block, Inc. Wide range of business data including S&P ratings, electronic clipping services, travel information, computer shopping and a base of technical report information.
- DIALOG (DIALOG Information Services, Inc. Palo Alto, CA). Online information service for more than 900 databases in business, science, engineering, finance and law.
- Dow Jones News/Retrieval (Dow Jones News/Retrieval Inc., Princeton, N.J.). Databases supporting two categories of services: Business and Investor Services (business data, news, stock quotes) and General Services (world news, travel, shopping).
- LEXIS-NEXIS (Mead Data Control, Dayton, OH). Full-text databases of legal, news, business and general information.
- NewsNet (NewsNet Inc., Bryn Mawr, PA). News and information from newsletters, wire services and specialty publications on 34 industries and professions.
- SDC/ORBIT (SDC Information Services, Santa Monica, CA). Focuses primarily on science and technology information from approximately 70 databases.
